Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician. Born on October 20, 1964, she is the 49th Vice-President of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first vice president to be female and the most powerful female politician in U.S. history, as well as the first African American and first Asian American vice president. Being a part of the Democratic Party, she was the former attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017 and an United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born and was raised in Oakland, California. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, before being recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and then the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003 she was elected district attorney of San Francisco. She was elected Attorney General of California in 2010 and she was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senate from California from 2017-2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the second African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. As a senator , she supported healthcare reform, federal descheduling for cannabis, a pathway for immigrants who are not legal citizens, the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. She also supported progressive tax reform. Her name is well-known due to her direct questions to Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
