[20] The speculations that she was going to replace Jay Carney White House Press secretary once he left for White House in the year 21 were fuelled by her appointment at the Department of State. However, Josh Earnest was announced as the replacement for Carney on May 30 in 2014. In 2015, she returned to the White House as communications director and stayed through the end of the Obama administration.
